Site Network
Browsers store a different cookie for each domain so that you cannot, for example, login to your Internet banking site and then visit a spam site and have the spam site get access to your Internet banking cookie. This is for security purposes.
Squiz Matrix, however, can get around this through the use of a Site Network. As Squiz Matrix manages all domains within the system, it can share cookie information. For example, if you have two Sites, it can share the information within the cookies between these two Sites. This information can include login details, asset access history, and shopping cart information.

Once created, you can configure the settings of your Site Network on its associated asset screens. These screens are often the same or similar to those for a Standard Page and are described in the Asset Screens manual. In this chapter, we will describe the Details screen, which is different for a Site Network.
Please note that the Site Network asset will not function correctly when using the Memcache session handler (configured in the main.inc file) on your system.
Details Screen
The Details screen for a Site Network allows you to set up this asset. For more information about the Status, Future Status and Thumbnail sections of this screen, refer to the Details chapter in the Asset Screens manual.
Details
This section allows you to set up the Site Network.

The Details screen
The fields available are as follows:
- Name: by default, the name that was entered into the Name field when the Site Network was created will appear in this section. You can change the name of the Site Network by clicking into the Name field and entering the new name for the Site Network.
- Primary URL: select a Site within the Site Network to use as the primary site. The URL that is assigned to this Site will be used as the primary URL of the Site Network. This is required internally by Squiz Matrix to synchronise session data.
Setting Up a Site Network
Once you have created a Site Network within the Asset Map, you need to either create or move the required Sites underneath it. Any Site that is not a child of the Site Network will not have its cookie information shared.

An example Site Network
For example, the figure to the right shows an example Site Network with the web sites Site and Squiz underneath it. The Squiz Intranet, however, has been created outside of the Site Network. This means that cookie information will be shared between Site and Squiz but not with the Squiz Intranet.
