Editing a Standard Page

When editing a Standard Page in the Easy Edit Suite, the Details, Content, Metadata, Workflow, Linking and URLs screens are available, as shown in the figure below.

You can use these screens to configure the general settings and content of the Standard Page.

In this chapter, we will discuss the Details and Content screens, which are different for a Standard Page. For more information on the Metadata, Workflow, Linking and URLs screens, refer to the relevant Screen chapters in this manual.

Details Screen

The Details screen allows you to view and change the current status and name of the Standard Page. Please note that the options on this screen are similar to those on the Details screen of a Standard Page in the backend. For more information, refer to the Details Screen chapter in the Asset Screens manual.

Status

This section shows the current Status of the Standard Page and allows you to change its Status. The following fields are available:

  • Current: this field displays the current status of the Standard Page. For example, in the figure below, the Status of the Standard Page is Safe Editing.

  • View Future Status: this button will open the Future Status settings, allowing you to schedule a Future Status change for the Standard Page at a specified date and time. For more information, refer to the Future Status section below.
  • Change: to change the Status of the Standard Page, select the appropriate status from the list provided. The options available depend on the current Status of the asset, what permissions you have and whether or not Workflow is applied. For example, if the asset is currently Under Construction and you have Admin Permission, the available options are Approve and Make Live and Archive. If there is Workflow applied to the asset then the available options are Apply for Approval and Archive.

    Tip: You cannot change the Status of an asset if the current Status is Pending Approval, as Workflow is in progress.

  • Cascade Status Change: check this box to cascade the Status change to all child assets.

    Tip: To cascade the current Status of the asset to its child assets, click Cascade Status Change and click Save. For example, if the asset is Live but the child assets of the asset are Under Construction, to make them all Live, click Cascade Status Change and click Save.

Future Status

This section allows you to set the Status of the Standard Page at a scheduled date and time in the future.

Tip: You can choose to hide and prevent use of the Future Status settings in the Easy Edit Suite's configuration file. For more information, refer to the Installation Guide chapter in this manual. 

To access these fields, click the View Future Status button in the Status bar - additional fields will appear on the screen, as shown in the figure below.

These fields will only be available if the Cron Manager has been configured to run.

The following fields are available:

  • Add New Future Status: to add a Future Status change on the Standard Page, select the appropriate status from the list provided.
  • Cascade Status Change: check this box to cascade the Future Status change to all child assets.
  • Set Date & Time For New Future Status: select the date and time that the Future Status change will occur.
     
    OR
  • Next Run: click this button to set the Future Status change to occur when the Cron Manager is next run.
  • Scheduled Runs: scheduled Future Status changes will appear in this section. To delete a Future Status change, check the corresponding delete box and click Save. This Future Status change will no longer occur.
Names

This section allows you to change the name of the Standard Page. The following fields are available:

  • Page Name: enter a name for the page. By default, the name that was entered when the asset was first created will appear in this field.
  • Page Short Name:  enter a short name for the page. The Page Short Name is shown in the Asset Map on the backend and can be different to the asset's Page Name. By default, the name that was entered when the asset was first created will appear in this field.  
Thumbnail

This section allows you to assign a thumbnail to the Standard Page. This thumbnail can then be used within the content of your Site.

Tip: You can choose to hide and prevent use of the Thumbnail settings in the Easy Edit Suite's configuration file. For more information, refer to the Installation Guide chapter in this manual.  

In the Set Thumbnail field, select an Image or Thumbnail asset to assign as the thumbnail for the Standard Page. If a thumbnail has been assigned, image information will be displayed in this section, as shown in the figure below.

Content Screen

The Content screen is used to add to and edit the content of the Standard Page and add and remove divisions. Please note that the options on this screen are similar to the Details screen of a Standard Page in the backend. For more information, refer to the Edit Contents Screen chapter in the Asset Screens manual.

The structure of the Standard Page is defined on the Content screen through the use of Divisions. Each box on the Content screen is one Division. In the figure above, one Division is being used for the Standard Page.

Adding a Division in the Simple Edit Suite is similar to adding a Division in the backend. To add a new Division, click on the Create New Div Create division icon icon. The Insert Div pop-up will appear. Complete the fields in this pop-up, selecting the Style Information and Content Type of the Division and click the Ok button. A new Division will appear on the Content screen, as shown in the figure below.

To edit the properties of a Division click on the Properties Division properties icon icon. For more information on how to add, edit and remove a Division, refer to the Page Contents and Division chapter in the Concepts manual.

To edit the contents of a Division, click on the edit icon icon. The fields for the Content Type of the Division will appear. For example, if the Content Type of the Division is the WYSIWYG Editor, it will appear on the Content screen, as shown in the figure below. For more information about each of the Content Types, refer to the Content Types manual.

Add the content for the Division through the fields that are provided. Once you have entered the required information, click Save. To view the content of the Standard Page within the context of the Site, click the Preview button in the Mode Switcher in the tool bar at the top of the screen.
