Funnelback Search Page

The Funnelback Search Page is used to allow users to search within a specified Collection. For example, if the user enters the word Squiz, it will search all the assets within the Collection for the word Squiz. You can create a simple search page that will only search one field on the asset or you can configure a more complex search page that can use metadata and URL scoping, show related topics, and provide spelling suggestions, for example.

Once you have created a Funnelback Search Page, you can configure its settings on its associated asset screens. The majority of these screens are the same or similar to those for a Standard Page or Asset Listing and are described in the Asset Screens manual and the Asset Listing manual. In this manual, we will describe the Details, Display Formats and Contextual Navigation Options screens.

Additional Dependant Assets

The additional dependant assets of the Funnelback Search Page
The additional dependant assets

When you create a Funnelback Search Page, a number of assets are automatically created beneath it, as highlighted in the figure to the right. You can use these assets to define the layout of the Funnelback Search Page.

  • Type Formats:
    • Default Format: this Bodycopy is used to define the information to be shown for each asset that appears in the list of results.
    • Featured Result Format: this Bodycopy is used to define the information to be shown for Feature Pages that appear in the list of results. For more information on Feature Pages, refer to the Creating a Feature Page example in this manual.
  • Contextual Navigation Format:
    • Layout Format: this Bodycopy is used to define the layout of the type, topic and site Contextual Navigation results on the search results page.
    • Item Format: this Bodycopy is used to define the layout of each of the results that appears in the Contextual Navigation results.
    • Navigation Format: this Bodycopy is used to define the layout of the cluster lineage navigation that appears in the Contextual Navigation results.
  • Spelling Format: this Bodycopy is used to define the layout for spelling suggestions on the Funnelback search. For more information on spelling suggestions, refer to the Displaying Spelling Suggestions example in this manual.
  • Initial Search Page Layout: this Bodycopy is used to define the initial layout of the Funnelback Search Page when the user first visits the page.
  • Results Page Layout: this Bodycopy is used to define the layout of the Funnelback Search Page if results are found when a search is performed.
  • No Results Page Layout: this Bodycopy is used to define the layout of the Funnelback Search Page if no results are found from the search.

The Featured Result Format and Contextual Navigation Format Bodycopies are described in this chapter. For more information on the Default Format, refer to the Asset Listing manual. For more information on the Initial Search Page Layout, Results Page Layout and No Results Page Layout, refer to the Search manual.
