Using URL Scoping
A Funnelback Search Page can provide users with scoping options based on the URLs of the Collection being searched. This enables users to explore content within specific sections of your Site, allowing them more control over their search results.
Example
We have a Funnelback Search Page configured to search our news Site. We want to allow users the option to search either Latest or Archived News as well as the option to search All News in the Site.
- To do this, go to the Details screen of the Funnelback Search Page. In the Search Options section, the scope ALL will be configured to the description Site. This means that searches on our search page will always search the entire Site. We want to retain this scope as an option for users, however, as we will be displaying the scoping options on the Funnelback Search Page, we need to change the description of the scope so that it is more informative, for example All News.
- We also want to add scopes for both the Latest News and Archived News sections.
To do this, add the URL for the Latest News section in the first column (e.g. http://example.com/latest) and enter a description in the second column (e.g. Latest News).
Repeat these steps to create a scope for the Archived News section and click Commit.
- In the Default Scope field, select All News. This will set the All News scope as the default for users on the Funnelback Search Page. The new configuration for the Search Options section is shown in the figure below.

The Scope configuration - The Search Scope keyword replacement is required to display the scoping options on the Funnelback Search Page. You can add this keyword on the Initial Search Page Layout Bodycopy of the Funnelback Search Page. This keyword replacement has been entered in the WYSIWYG Editor, as shown in the figure below.

The Funnelback Search Page will now display the scoping options, as shown in the figure below, allowing users to search in either the Latest or Archived News sections of the Site or to search entire Site.
