Using Other Assets as Locations
Assets such as a Data Record or Standard Page can be used as a Google Map Location. In order to define the location information for these assets you need to create a Metadata Schema. Once you have created and applied this Metadata Schema, you can refer to this information to plot the location via keyword replacements on the Google Map page. The advantage of using these assets is that these locations can be listed by address, automatically converted into geographical coordinates with the geocoding service.

Setting Up the Metadata Schema
A Metadata Schema needs to be applied to the assets so that you can input the location information. The suggested list of fields that should be added to the Metadata Schema are as follows:
- Latitude: enter the latitude of the location.
- Longitude: enter the longitude of the location.
- Description: enter a description of the location.
- IconURL: enter the URL of an image to be used as the icon of the location.
-
Address: enter the address of the location. This field works similarly to the address finder,
allowing you to alternatively enter landmarks, suburbs or cities. To use a location listed by address, the geocoding service must be enabled in the Details screen of the Google Map.
Tip: When creating a location you should decide whether to list the location by either geographical coordinates or an address and entering only the corresponding metadata fields. Latitude/Longitude and Address metadata should not be used in conjunction with each other.
These fields are all text fields. For more information on how to create a Metadata Schema, refer to the Schemas manual.
Applying Keyword Mapping
Once the asset type is selected on the Listing Options screen, the Keyword Mapping settings will appear. These settings need to be configured to enable the Google Map to retrieve metadata information applied to an asset and identify how to use it. The Keyword Mapping fields are shown in the figure below.

For more information on these fields, refer tothe Google Map chapter in this manual.
Keyword Replacements for Keyword Mapping on the Listing Options Screen
The keyword replacements available include the following:
-
%asset_attribute_name%: this will show the name of the asset and could be used in the
Location Name keyword field, provided you have given your asset the same name as its
location. -
%asset_metadata_
<metadata_field_name>%: this will show the information entered into
a metadata field where <metadata_field_name> is the name of that field. For example, if a metadata field was created titled Located with the address of the location, %asset_metadata_Located% would be used in the Address keyword field.
