What is Remote Content?

The Remote Content asset allows you to display the content of an external page within your Site. This can be a page from another web site or an external application. For example, say you want to show the list of User Manuals page in your Site. To do this, you would create a Remote Content asset and enter the URL on the Details screen. Once you have done that, the list of user manuals will appear, as shown in the figure below.

You can also use the Content Filtering fields on the Details screen to format the content that is being shown. For example, in the figure shown above, the design from the Squiz Matrix User Manual Library web site has been removed through the use of the Start Tag and End Tag fields on the Details screen.

The Remote Content asset should only be used to show external pages within your Site. To show internal pages, you can use a Nest Content division or link a division into the page.

Once you have created your Remote Content asset, you can configure the asset on its associated screens. Many of these screens are the same or similar to those for a Standard Page and are described in the Asset Screens manual. In this chapter we will only describe the Details, Messages and Post Data screen, which are different for a Remote Content asset.
